Discover the magic generated by our creative specialists

Coming from professional performing arts backgrounds, prepare for magical experiences with our onomatopoeic specialists. Whether it’s Toot, Bosh or Crunch, they are unbelievably creative, super-talented and sharply focussed on sparking children’s imaginations in an inclusive and positive space.

You may come across an actor, choreographer, or drummer. Blending drama, movement and music throughout the curriculum, our specialists are also:

  • rigorously recruited
  • fully referenced and enhanced DBS cleared
  • receive ongoing training and development
  • matched with a personal mentor.

Indeed our specialists often say the best thing about being part of Artis is their marvellous mentor. Come and meet some…

Stu Barter (Chime) Mentor Leader & Specialist

“My Artis name is Chime because I love playing music and singing songs. My background is in theatre and music, and I currently write, record and perform songs in my chamber folk band, Left With Pictures. I would love for as many children as possible to have the opportunity to work creatively every week, imagining and creating their own characters, stories, melodies and movements. As such, the role I play in introducing new schools to Artis is very important to me.”

Wendy Steatham (Whirl) Mentor Leader & Trustee

“I have been dancing since I was 5 years old and have been fortunate enough that my hobby became my career. I am passionate about the positive impact of integrating the performing arts into education and wellbeing, experiencing first hand how it can aid physical, social, cultural, artistic and academic development. I believe the work of Artis is hugely important because of the differences it makes to people’s lives.”

Wendy is a professional dance artist whose career has included roles as performer, choreographer, movement director, teacher, lecturer and administrator.
