Emma Edwards (Chirp)

Programmes Coordinator

Ever since I was little, I have loved the arts. I danced, sang and crafted my way through my childhood, and found a love for music through my parents’ one-hundred-year-old piano in the back room of our house. I was lucky to have some fantastic arts experiences whilst I was in school, which led me to study Music at Cardiff University where I trained in composition and classical voice. My Artis name is ‘Chirp’ as homage to my opera singer roots!

Whilst I was studying, I discovered just how privileged I am to have grown up with access to music and arts and discovered a passion for ensuring everyone has the same opportunities I did. I decided to study an MA in Arts Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where my training and placements focused heavily on developing career routes and access to the arts for young people. I then went on to develop my knowledge and practice in equality, diversity, and inclusion through a varied freelance career before joining Artis in 2022.

As Programme Coordinator, my role is to ensure that Artis can provide those all-important performing arts opportunities for all children in schools across the UK. I do this by working with schools and specialists to ensure the quality of our provision is as good as it can be, whilst promoting our sessions on social media, applying for funding, and helping with the general administration of the charity.
