Throughout a long career Jenny held a number of senior positions in major arts organisations including the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre, the Royal Opera House and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has also served on many Boards, most recently at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the RoundhouseTrust and the National Opera Studio. Currently she is a Member of the Middlesex Learning Trust and an advisor to the Backstage Trust.

In 1999 she was appointed to the House of Lords, taking the title Baroness McIntosh of Hudnall, and now devotes most of her time to her work there.
